The Planning Commission has approved a series of permits for a senior housing project near Camino Mira Costa and Camino de Estrella.
The 4.2-acre site is being developed by USA Properties Fund Inc., which plans to build a 122-unit affordable senior housing complex.
The commission attached several conditions to the project to ensure that it remains a senior housing project, that it satisfies city codes that require adequate tenant parking in covered spaces, and that the developer include specified percentages of affordable units.
USA Properties sued the city in May to stop a voter initiative, aimed at delaying development, that would include its project.
The developer’s lawsuit, which has been joined to a lawsuit by the city requesting that the initiative be declared invalid, is scheduled to be heard in August.
