Unfair for Singles

* The elimination of the so-called “marriage penalty” tax is unfair (July 13). Married couples get over a thousand additional benefits that single people aren’t permitted: Single children helping their aged parents, gays and lesbians who cannot be legally married and many others do not receive those added benefits. And now the government, by ending the one area where the rest of us get a slight break, is once again propping up institutional prejudice against singles of all kinds.
