An 8-year-old boy was struck by a car and dragged more than 50 feet through a park while waiting for a school bus Friday morning, authorities said.
The boy, who police would not identify, suffered only cuts and scraps. He was treated at St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard and released.
According to Oxnard Police Officer Charles Woodruff, an Oxnard man had been drinking alcohol in his car when he decided to drive through Colonia Park at 1st Street and Juanita Avenue about 7 a.m. After striking the child, he drove off.
Cesar Ramos, 26, was arrested a short time later when officers spotted him driving near Wooley Road and Rose Avenue, Woodruff said.
Ramos was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, driving under the influence and causing injury to another person, authorities said.
