OCC Hires Novaquatics’ Salo as Swim Coach

Dave Salo, coach for the Irvine Novaquatics swim team, has been hired to coach the Orange Coast College men’s and women’s teams.
Salo will remain with the Novaquatics, where he has coached for 10 years. He guided them to the 1999 national team championship. OCC swim Coach Don Watson began a two-year leave of absence last fall.
TRACK AND FIELD
Pole vaulter Logan Odden has signed with Long Beach State, Marina High track Coach Dick Degen said Wednesday.
Odden set a county record with a vault of 16 feet 7 inches at the San Diego Mt. Carmel Invitational last spring. He won Southern Section Division I and Southern California Masters titles.
SOFTBALL
Pitcher Courtney Fossatti, second baseman Erin Mobley and outfielder Caitlin Lowe of Foothill High have been named to the 2000 Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Assn. High School All-American team.
Tia Bollinger, The Times’ Orange County player of the year, also was a first-team selection.
Rosary catcher Natalie Golda and Foothill outfielder Autumn Champion were second-team national selections and were also West Region first-team members. Irvine shortstop Kendra Singley was another regional first-team selection.
