Bank Robber Fled Scene in Limo, Police Say

SACRAMENTO — A bank was robbed Wednesday by a teenager who used a stretch limousine as a getaway car, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department said.
Alexander Michael Jenkins III, 18, of Orangevale arrived at the Bank of America in the limousine and spoke to a manager about retrieving money from a dead relative’s account. After the manager explained the procedure, Jenkins indicated he wanted to rob the bank, said Sgt. Rick Gibson, a department spokesman.
Jenkins took an undisclosed amount of money from the bank’s vault and more money from the tellers on his way out the door, Gibson added.
As he left, Jenkins “exclaimed he was on his way to Lake Tahoe,” then left in the limo, Gibson said.
The limo was stopped by the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Department and California Highway Patrol as it was heading toward Lake Tahoe. Jenkins was arrested without incident.
The department statement did not say whether Jenkins was armed.
