Aerospace Appoints President to Work With Its Retiring CEO

Aerospace Corp. has tapped William Ballhaus Jr. as president, effective Sept. 11. E.C. “Pete” Aldridge Jr. will remain the chief executive of the El Segundo-based nonprofit organization that provides technical analyses and assessments for space programs. Aldridge and Ballhaus will share responsibility for Aerospace operations until Aldridge retires in late 2001. Ballhaus joins Aerospace after an 11-year career with Lockheed Martin, where he served most recently as corporate vice president, engineering and technology.
* David Pillsbury and Joe Guerra have been named co-chief executives of American Golf, the Santa Monica operator of nearly 320 golf courses in the U.S. and Britain. Pillsbury formerly was the company’s president and chief marketing officer. Guerra was its executive vice president.
* Dole Food Co. has promoted Larry Kern to the position of president, worldwide fresh vegetables, packaged salads and nontropical fresh fruit. He will be responsible for all vegetable operations and markets for Westlake Village-based Dole. He will continue as head of the North America nontropical fruit businesses with additional responsibilities for Chilean fruit operations.
