The musical “Always . . . Patsy Cline,” springs from the true tale of a fan who befriended the great country singer backstage one night in 1961 and exchanged letters with Cline until her death in a plane crash two years later. Cindy Summers as the star, and longtime “Hee-Haw” regular Misty Rowe as the fan are veterans of multiple touring productions of the two-character show. Its main purpose is the faithful re-creation of 20 songs from Cline’s repertoire.

Just about all the senior members of Southern California’s roots-rock class of the early ‘80s turned out for last week’s Hootenanny 2000 festival--all, that is, except for Los Lobos, the magnificent East L.A. quintet that gives relentless musical experimentation a great name. On the heels of that festival, the wolves amble in to O.C. for this show at the Sun Theatre.
