Highlights from the 2000 Orange County Fair:
Arlington Theater
Headlining concert acts will perform two shows nightly at 7 and 9 at the 5,000-seat Arlington Theater. All shows are free with fair admission and seating is first come, first served. Fiesta del Mariachi Day will be held in the Arlington Theater.
Concert Schedule
Friday: Electric Light Orchestra Part II and Jose Feliciano
Saturday: World Classic Rockers, featuring Randy Meisner and Ron Wikso
Sunday: Rain (Beatles tribute band)
Monday 17: Jaci Velasquez (inspirational music)
Tuesday: The Everly Brothers
Wednesday: John Kay and Steppenwolf
July 20: Isaac Hayes
July 21: Paul Rodgers (rhythm & blues singer)
July 22: Taylor Dayne
July 23: Freddy Fender
Fiesta Del Mariachi Day: Entertainment begins at 10 a.m. with Ballet Folklorico de Carol Armijo, followed by Mariachi Cobras de Jalisco at 11 a.m. Ballet Folklorico del Pacifico performs at noon. Mariachi Voz de America starts at 1 p.m. with Mariachi Reyna de Los Angeles at 2 p.m. and Mariachi Sol de Mexico at 3 p.m.
July 24: Weird Al Yankovic
July 25: Rick Springfield
July 26: Poco and Firefall
July 27: Charo
July 28: Ty Herndon (country)
July 29: Doug Kershaw, the “Ragin’ Cajun” fiddler
July 30: The Bellamy Brothers (country, rock, Latin and reggae)
Meadows Stage
July 23: Ballet Folklorico de Carol Armijo dances at 11 a.m. and Mariachi Cobras de Jalisco plays at 1 p.m.
Heritage Stage
Nightly salsa lessons and competitions, starting at 7 p.m. Dancing to live music and dance finals at 7:30 p.m.
July 30: salsa’s “Hottest Couple” competition
July 19: “Some Like It Hot,” a Marilyn Monroe look-alike contest, at 6 p.m.
July 20: Chinese cooking at the Celebrity Chefs Series, with Martin Yan of the TV show “Yan Can Cook” at 5 p.m.
July 27: Authors Mary Sue Milliken and Susan Feniger of “Cooking With Two Hot Tamales” will showcase authentic foods and flavors from south of the border at 5 p.m.
