Melvin, Rockers Sting Charlotte

Chasity Melvin combined quickness and power inside to score 21 points and lead the Cleveland Rockers over the Charlotte Sting, 72-65, Monday night before 6,039 at Cleveland.
Melvin scored six points early in the second half during a 10-2 run that gave Cleveland a 54-44 lead with 11:52 to play.
Cleveland (10-8) maintained a comfortable lead the rest of the way to defeat the Sting for the second time in three nights. The Rockers won Saturday night at Charlotte, 80-59.
Rhonda Mapp had 17 points and 12 rebounds for Charlotte (3-16), which lost for the ninth time in 10 games. Charlotte Smith scored 16 for the Sting before fouling out with 28.1 seconds left.
Miami 59, Seattle 42--Marlies Askamp had a season-high 21 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Sol over the Storm before 7,041 at Miami in a matchup of expansion teams.
Askamp, who made 13 of 18 from the free-throw line, was Miami’s only player in double figures.
Stacey Lovelace was the only player in double figures for Seattle (3-16) with 11 points in 14 minutes.
Miami (7-12) failed to reach 60 points for the 15th time this season.
