* Fabrizio Bonanni, a senior vice president with Thousand Oaks-based Amgen Inc., was elected to the board of directors of California Healthcare Institute, a nonprofit public policy research organization.
The institute represents leading California academic institutions, biotechnology, medical-device and pharmaceutical firms to advance public policies that foster medical innovation and promote scientific discovery.
* Dole Food Co. in Westlake Village promoted Larry Kern to the position of president in charge of worldwide fresh vegetables, packaged salads and nontropical fresh fruit.
He will be responsible for all vegetable operations and markets throughout Dole. He will continue as head of the North America nontropical fruit businesses, with added responsibilities for Chilean fruit operations.
* BidVantage Inc. in Camarillo announced two appointments. Leonard Schneeman has joined the company as senior vice president and chief technology officer. Alan Kheel was hired as senior vice president, chief administrative officer and general counsel. BidVantage is a business-to-business electronics marketplace.
* Gerald Mitchell, executive vice president of The Right Start, is listed among the “100 Best Minds in Marketing Today” by Advertising Age.
Mitchell was selected because the specialty retailer of child developmental, educational and care products was a brand that “broke through” in 1999, according to the publication. The Right Start in Westlake Village specializes in high-end products for infants and children.
