Wells Fargo to Give Community Grants

Wells Fargo is giving $1,000 each to 30 community-service organizations in Ventura County at a program this week in Simi Valley.
The grants are part of the bank’s Community Partners program, which was started last year in San Diego, Santa Barbara and Fresno.
The American Cancer Society in Ventura, the Boys & Girls Club of Moorpark and the Newbury Park Library Literacy Program are three of the groups to receive the grants from Wells Fargo Foundation.
Employees and managers at Wells Fargo Bank branches chose the groups based on the work they do in their communities.
Republican state Sen. Cathie Wright of Simi Valley will join several local elected officials at an awards ceremony at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library at 9 a.m. Wednesday.
“Because these [groups] were identified by employees it’s important to us, because our employees live in those areas,” said Miriam Galicia Duarte, a Wells Fargo spokeswoman. “They know the needs in their communities, and that’s really key.”
