No one cites the most sensible, cost-effective preventive of Quackenbush-type corruption: public funding of election campaigns. Under our present system, the funding by vested interests other than the public dominates governors’ appointments and election campaigns. Let’s restore democracy and make politicians accountable to us, not the special interests who bankroll their elections.
