The Planning Department has released a revised report to clear up confusion about the potential effects of the Greenlight Initiative, but not everyone is satisfied.
The initiative, formally known as the Protection from Traffic and Density Initiative, would give voters the final say on any development requiring a “major” General Plan amendment. It is slated for the November ballot.
Although the report released Friday comes up with some new numbers, the study still doesn’t look entirely correct, said Greenlight advocate Allan Beek. Beek said he plans to meet with city officials today to discuss the data.
Two weeks ago, city-hired analyst John Douglas released a study of the effects of the initiative on city development.
Initially, said City Manager Homer Bludau, Douglas had concluded that 18 projects--from work at the Four Seasons Hotel to expansion of the Edwards Theater--would have triggered a vote under Greenlight. The revised report concludes that only 11 projects would have required a citywide vote, Bludau said.
