The city is asking residents to keep portable basketball hoops out of streets and rights-of-way to prevent injury and property damage.
“It does present a safety hazard,” said Lt. Sam Allevato, a spokesman for the Police Department. “Placing the hoops in the street where they are going to create additional hazards is illegal.”
The hoops slow down street cleaners and garbage collectors and limit sidewalk access, city officials said.
