Man Sought in Sexual Assault

Police are searching for a man who sexually assaulted a Simi Valley woman inside her home Saturday night.
Authorities said a white male wearing jeans and a dark blue shirt broke into the woman’s home on Cochran Street about 9:30 p.m. He was described as being in his 20s to early 30s, with a goatee, about 6 feet and weighing roughly 250 pounds.
The man did not appear to be carrying a weapon, police said. The victim was treated for scratches and bruises at Simi Valley Hospital and released.
Authorities do not believe the attack is related to a series of rapes that began in 1996. Police believe a man is responsible for 11 attacks in the city, the latest occurring in March. But authorities said that man is much shorter than Saturday’s suspect, between 5-foot-2 and 5-foot-8, with a medium build. He usually carries a knife, police said.
