The City Council approved an emergency ordinance Wednesday allowing recreation vehicles and boat trailers to be stored on property in the Rancho San Clemente Business Park for 90 days.
The ordinance became necessary when an impromptu recreation vehicle park sprouted up on two vacant lots in the park near the intersection of Calle Extremo and Avenida Fabricante.
Saddleback Valley Christian Schools, which is leasing the property, had the vehicle owners move their property to the lots from a storage facility it owns in San Juan Capistrano, which closed in June.
City staff reports indicated the schools did not apply for a site-use permit for a storage facility on the lots.
The council set a July 31 deadline to notify the vehicle owners that they must move out by Oct. 3.
