The city’s Summer Playgrounds program will run through Aug. 18, offering free, supervised recreational activities for 5- to 12-year-olds at six parks around the city.
Trained volunteers lead children in arts and crafts, games, swimming and field trips from noon to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Activities are organized at Chapman Park, 2515 San Carlos Drive; Ford Park, 435 W. Wilshire Ave.; Hillcrest Park, 1155 N. Lemon St.; Orangethorpe Park, 1414 S. Brookhurst St.; Richman Park, 711 S. Highland Ave.; and Valencia Park, 3441 W. Valencia Ave.
