“Dot-Com” IPOs Decline

The number of companies going public with the once red-hot “dot-com” moniker fell to its lowest level last quarter since the fourth quarter of 1998. Just seven companies with a dot-com in their name completed initial public offerings between April and June, compared with 11 in the first quarter and 21 in the fourth quarter of 1999, according to Thomson Financial Securities Data. Sixty-three dot-com companies went public between April and December last year.
