GARDEN GROVE
8:30pm
Theater
Troubadour Theater Company, which makes a specialty of spoofing Shakespeare, offers “A Midsummer Saturday Night’s Fever Dream,” in which the Bard’s fairy realm is invaded by the thump-thump-thump-thump of a ‘70s disco beat.
* “A Midsummer Saturday Night’s Fever Dream,” Grove Theater Center Festival Amphitheater, 12852 Main St., Garden Grove. Fridays and Saturdays, 8:30 p.m. Ends July 15. $18.50 to $22.50. (714) 741-9555.
ANAHEIM
8:30pm
Pop Music
The Young Dubliners’ new album, “Red,” is just out, which should give this ever-partying L.A.-based Celtic rock sextet even more reason than usual to celebrate at its show Friday in Anaheim. The group got a little help from a friend--Elton John lyricist Bernie Taupin--for the title track.
* Young Dubliners, Sun Theatre, 2200 E. Katella Ave., Anaheim. With Jaded. 8:30 p.m. $15. (714) 712-2700.
LAGUNA BEACH
8:30 pm
Festival
With 2000 marking the 150th anniversary of California’s statehood, this year’s Pageant of the Masters opens on a note of tradition: the Tushmal Singers, a local group that descended from the Acjachemen tribe that once occupied what is now Orange County, will start each night of the festival by singing a hymn in the style of their ancestors. Afterward, the crews of makeup artists, costume designers and more will return to create another year’s round of “living pictures” on the stage.
* Pageant of the Masters, Irvine Bowl Park, 650 Laguna Canyon Road, Laguna Beach. 8:30 p.m. $10 to $50. Through Aug. 31. (949) 497-6582.
