Nov. 7 will be the date of the next general municipal election for the city’s three council seats.
Two four-year terms and one two-year term will be open in December.
City Council members are paid $300 a month and also serve on the boards of the Capistrano Valley Water District and the San Juan Capistrano Community Redevelopment Agency.
Candidates, who must be registered voters and city residents, may be nominated by registered voters beginning July 17. The deadline is 5 p.m. Aug. 11.
Each nominating paper must be signed by 20 to 30 registered San Juan Capistrano voters, and each candidate must file a statement disclosing investments and real estate interests.
