Baby Girl Shot With BB Gun Still Critical

A 1-year-old Ojai girl who was shot by a BB gun over the weekend remained in critical condition Monday at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.
The girl, whose name was not released, was struck in the head Saturday and underwent surgery that afternoon, authorities said.
The child was hit while playing with two boys in the backyard of her home in the 200 block of McNell Road. Authorities said the boys are related to the girl and believe one of them fired the BB gun.
Sheriff’s deputies called the shooting an accident but are still investigating.
