Residents may hear loud explosions or feel rumbling Thursday from training exercises at Camp Pendleton, according to the Marine Corps.
The 1st Battalion, 11th Marines will be detonating 500-pound bombs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and firing 155-millimeter rounds from 7 a.m. until midnight.
The rounds will be fired from the north end of the base, east of San Clemente.
Depending on atmospheric conditions, explosions may be amplified and heard up to 50 miles away.
