Seminars and classes designed to take the mystery out of home buying are being offered this month to first-time buyers.
Los Angeles Neighborhood Housing Services, a nonprofit lender and developer that helps first-time home buyers and low- and moderate-income families, holds one-day seminars and six-session classes for $50 per family. Topics include credit, budgeting, mortgage financing, market conditions and fixer-uppers.
The next six-week class in English will start Thursday from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Pacoima Homeownership Center, 11243 Glenoaks Blvd. A six-week class in Spanish will start Wednesday at the same time and location.
A one-day seminar will be offered from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in English on July 15, Aug. 19 and Sept. 16. The seminar also will be given from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Spanish on Saturday, Aug. 12 and Sept. 9.
Those who complete a class and use Los Angeles Neighborhood Housing Services’ lending program to purchase a home will receive a $500 grant at the closing of escrow.
