Mission Viejo’s Bill Demarest is in fifth place after the first of two days in the men’s free pistol competition at the U.S. Shooting National Championships in Atlanta. The event also serves as a qualifier for the U.S. Olympic team.
Demarest, who made the Olympic team by winning the air pistol event this week, scored 550 points Friday and trails leader Michael Douglass of Colorado Springs by 13 points.
