Jerri Rodewald of Corona del Mar was one of three women honored by the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) at the denomination’s general assembly this week in Long Beach.
Rodewald received the Women of Faith Award for her work with prostitutes in the Mary Magdalene Project, where she has served for 20 years. She credited the Presbyterian Women for raising the initial $30,000 for the project and emphasized the goal of serving “with a bias toward the marginalized . . . those denied their dignity and full inclusion.”
The award is given to those who are instrumental in fighting injustice and oppression. Also recognized this year were Beverly Armstrong of Missouri and Artheillia Thompson of Michigan.
