Michael Andretti set a track qualifying record in winning the provisional pole position for Sunday’s Nissan Indy Challenge at Miami.
Andretti sped around the twisting 1.784-mile, 9-turn circuit at an average speed of 114.379 m.p.h., breaking the two-year-old mark of 113.856 set by Bobby Rahal.
Danny Sullivan was close behind Andretti at 113.723, followed by Mario Andretti, Michael’s father, at 113.324.
