CBS News still hasn’t figured out what to call the new 7-9 a.m. news show that will replace its 90-minute “The Morning Program” on Nov. 30, but the network has made some decisions in the personnel department. KCBS sports director Jim Lampley, also a play-by-play announcer on CBS’ NFL broadcasts and a radio talk show host, will appear daily on the new morning program, CBS announced this week. Also hired was veteran National Public Radio producer Jay Kernis, as a planning and ideas producer. Retained: Mark McEwen, “Morning Program” weathercaster, will continue prognosticating for the news program. Still vacant: the co-anchor spot opposite Kathleen Sullivan.
