Senate Rejects Bork Nomination

Fein does not understand what all the fuss is about. May I offer the following for his consideration:
If the process of the selection of a justice had been confined to the hearings, there would have been no legitimate basis for complaint.
But outside of the hearing room a campaign was waged in the media.
Of course, it was a campaign of lies for if the truth about Bork had been enough to hang him, there would have been no need for smear tactics.
The people who did this should know that if we are going to start seating only those justices who will embroider the Constitution, ultra-conservatives can wage campaigns too. Frightening thought, isn’t it.
