Earl Wilson, a former Charger, applied Tuesday to participate in a drug diversion program.
San Diego Municipal Court Judge Fred Link set an eligibility hearing for Nov. 4.
Wilson, 29, is charged with furnishing cocaine to an undercover police officer and possession of a quarter-gram of rock cocaine in connection with a Sept. 5 incident.
If Wilson completes the program, which is available for first-time offenders only, the charges would be dismissed in a year, Deputy District Attorney Allen Preckel said.
