Jerry Wilcox, longtime public relations director for the Rams, died Monday of a heart attack.
Wilcox, 46, had been in failing health. He was taken to Los Alamitos Hospital but was dead on arrival.
Wilcox was with the Rams from 1969-1983, beginning as the assistant public relations director. He returned to the team this season as a consultant after four years as public relations director at Hollywood Park.
Wilcox was a graduate of USC, where he had been the sports editor of the Daily Trojan. He was also the former assistant director of the USC athletic news bureau.
Wilcox is survived by his wife Carole. Funeral arrangements are pending.
