Man With Jarvik Heart Gets Human Transplant

TUCSON — An Arizona man who was kept alive 16 days with an artificial heart received a human heart in surgery Sunday at the University of Arizona Medical Center. John Hyland, 44, was listed in critical condition after a 7 1/2-hour operation to replace the Jarvik 7-100, the larger version of the artificial device.
