“Comic Relief ‘87” will be broadcast free Nov. 14 to all basic cable subscribers, courtesy of Home Box Office, sponsor of the show. The star-studded comedy benefit for the homeless, to be broadcast live from the Universal Amphitheatre, was carried on basic cable (rather than only on pay channel HBO) in similar fashion during last year’s event. Comedians appearing on the show with Billy Crystal and Robin Williams will include Roseanne Barr, Penn & Teller, Andrea Martin, Dick Gregory, Peter Cook and Paul Rodriguez and “Golden Girls” co-stars Estelle Getty, Rue McClanahan and Betty White. Last year’s telecast raised $2.6 million for assistance and services for the homeless.
