Fullerton’s Garritson Finishes Third in 8K Race

Carrie Garritson, a 10-year-old from Fullerton, earned $500 for placing third in the Foot Locker Partners National 8-kilometer road race at Playa del Rey on Saturday. Garritson ran the distance in 28 minutes 25 seconds.
Monica Joyce of Hermosa Beach, a 3,000-meter semifinalist in the 1984 Olympics, was first in 27:11. Polly Plummer, a UC Irvine graduate who finished fourth in the 1986 NCAA cross-country championships, was second in 27:55.
Joyce received $1,500 for winning the race, and Plummer earned $1,000.
