Brazil Doubles Military Pay in Wake of Revolt

SAO PAULO, Brazil — The Brazilian government is doubling all military salaries in the wake of a small, isolated pay revolt in the south, officials announced Friday. They said the raise was the result of months of deliberations and not connected with the protest.
On Thursday, a captain and 50 troops briefly invaded the town hall of Apucarana in Parana state to complain about pay.
