Police arrested two men on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon after a doorman was shot in the leg during a scuffle at Kiss The Club in the 2200 block of Newport Boulevard early Wednesday, police said.
Tong Thanh Lam, 26, of Signal Hill and Tran Khon Tran, 20, of Huntington Beach were arrested at 1 a.m. after battling doormen at the club with bottles and chairs when they were told to leave for creating a disturbance, Lt. Cliff McBride said.
A third man, believed to be in his early 20s, fired several rounds from an automatic pistol before escaping, McBride said.
Tom Wood, 25, of Costa Mesa, a doorman at the club, was shot in leg and taken to the Costa Mesa Medical Center Hospital, where he was treated and released, according to the club manager.
