A private collection of items manufactured from whale products is on exhibit through October at the Point Vicente Interpretive Center. The display consists of various articles used in households and businesses in the 1800s.
Whale oil for watches, machines and lamps, as well as clothespins, rolling pins, ladles and button hooks made of whalebone are among the products on display.
The center is operated by the city of Rancho Palos Verdes and is at the southern end of Hawthorne Boulevard, next to the Point Vicente Lighthouse.
