Vice President George Bush said he has no regrets about trying to explain his poor showing in an Iowa straw poll by saying that many of his supporters were at their daughters’ coming-out parties. The remark has fueled criticism that he is an upper-crust elitist out of touch with common people. The vice president, when asked about it while preparing to meet with visiting Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Abdullah, said: “I don’t have any regrets. Things are going so well.”
