An argument in the parking lot of a Sun Valley bar ended in a shooting in which two men were killed and a third was injured early Monday, Los Angeles police said.
No suspect in the shooting has been arrested. North Hollywood division detectives said they had little information on the circumstances of the shooting outside Lalo’s Place at 8293 San Fernando Road or on the gunman’s identity.
Killed were North Hollywood residents Javier Felix and Gavdencio Ortiz, both 23, said Lt. Ron LaRue. Ortiz’s half-brother, Salome Ortiz, 24, of North Hollywood, was shot in the leg, but was treated and released at Serra Memorial Health Center, police said.
LaRue said detectives were hampered in the early stages of the investigation by a lack of witnesses willing to talk to police.
“All we really know is that there was an argument in the parking lot. It turned into a shooting,” he said.
LaRue said police do not know what the three victims and at least one other man were arguing about.
The bar was closed at the time of the 2:45 a.m. shooting, but several employees were inside when several shots were heard, LaRue said. The employees found the victims in the parking lot, he said.
