Emulex Corp. reported that earnings for its fiscal first quarter ended Sept. 27 increased 2.6% to $1.6 million from $1.57 million in the year-earlier quarter. Revenues rose 15% to $28.8 million from $25 million a year earlier.
Pre-tax profit increased by 8.7% in the quarter. Emulex said its tax-rate provision for the quarter was 32%, compared to the year-earlier rate of 28%.
Fred B. Cox, chairman and chief executive officer, said the revenue growth occurred in part because of an order backlog twice as high as a year ago.
Costa Mesa-based Emulex makes storage controllers, storage subsystems and data communications products which enhance the performance of computer and communications systems.
