Cal State Northridge and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo entered Saturday night’s California Collegiate Athletic Assn. match tied for first in the standings. But after 90 minutes of regulation play and two 10-minute overtimes at North Campus Stadium, nothing had been settled as the teams battled to a 2-2 tie.
Steve Lazarus’ goal at the 6:34 mark of the first overtime tied the score for CSUN (11-1-1, 3-0-1). Lazarus scored on a bicycle kick with an assist from Henry Vasquez and Thor Lee.
Pat Dwyer had scored three minutes earlier to give Cal Poly SLO (6-3-2, 3-0-1) a 2-1 lead.
