General Automation of Anaheim said it has completed its acquisition of Aston Technology, a privately held English computer company. Terms were not disclosed, except that no General Automation shares were issued.
Aston will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of General Automation’s United Kingdom operations. Aston, founded in 1983, serves specialty markets such as the legal profession, health care, school and university administrative systems and vehicle-fleet management.
Leonard Mackenzie, General Automation chairman, said his company acquired Aston for several reasons, including its strong sales base in the U.K.; its proprietary-applications software; its installed base of 600 systems, and a field service operation that will work closely with General Automation’s. In 1986, Aston’s revenues were approximately $4.8 million in U.S. dollars.
