Reagan to Confer With GOP Hopefuls

WASHINGTON — President Reagan, who has vowed to remain neutral in the race for the Republican presidential nomination, has invited the six GOP contenders to the White House next week to discuss the campaign, a White House spokesman said Thursday.
Deputy White House Press Secretary Leslye Arsht said the President would meet Tuesday afternoon with Vice President George Bush, Sen. Bob Dole of Kansas, Rep. Jack Kemp of New York, Pat Robertson, former Secretary of State Alexander M. Haig Jr. and former Gov. Pierre S. (Pete) du Pont IV of Delaware.
Although there would be no formal agenda, Arsht said the President would discuss his role in the campaign. He is expected to campaign for Republican candidates in general, even while avoiding endorsing a specific presidential candidate until after the nominee is chosen.
