More than 100 tons of dead fish have been scooped from the shoreline of Kaweah Lake in the state’s program to kill predatory white bass. Spraying of waterways downstream with fish-suffocating rotenone will begin on Monday, said Randy Kelly, field supervisor for the state Department of Fish and Game. He said 105 tons of various types of fish had been collected by midweek. They were killed on Friday and Saturday as part of a program to rid southern San Joaquin Valley waterways of white bass, which state officials fear might otherwise migrate north to the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta and threaten salmon and striped bass.
