USD Soccer Team Gains Tie With UCLA

Bob Welsh’s goal with 5 1/2 minutes remaining Wednesday gave the University of San Diego a 1-1 tie with UCLA in a nonconference college soccer match at UCLA.
USD is 8-4-2, and UCLA is 7-4-1.
UCLA had taken a 1-0 lead on a goal by Shaun Del Grande at the 29-minute mark of the first half.
After that, USD’s Scott Huckleberry made four saves to keep the Toreros close.
With 5:30 left, Welsh took a pass from Chris Duke and beat UCLA goalkeeper Anton Nistl to force a tie.
