Black Mayor Reelected in Largest Alabama City

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Richard Arrington, the first black mayor of Alabama’s largest city, has defeated three opponents to win his third four-year term. With 84 of the city’s 86 ballot boxes counted in Tuesday’s election, Arrington had 50,384 votes, or 63%.
