Burbank Councilwoman and Bob Hope
Forty-three years ago on the island of Bougainville in the Northern Solomons, Bob Hope entertained the soldiers of the 37th Infantry Division with a performance. As a private in that division, I remember Mr. Hope’s show as being superlative. It was both timely and entertaining.
Four decades and numerous TV specials, gasoline and savings-and-loan ads later, comedian Hope’s anachronistic style of humor has become threadbare and predictable. Attrition has taken its toll.
Thanks for the memories, Bob. . . . the old, old memories.
