No toxic residue was found on a syringe seized after a customer reportedly saw a woman holding it and an open beverage bottle in a Glendale supermarket, police said Tuesday.
Catherine Elizabeth Davis, 41, of Glendale was being held in lieu of $5,000 bail after her arrest Monday night on suspicion of food tampering at the Albertson’s market on Glendale Avenue.
Glendale Police Department spokesman Christopher Loop said there was a minimal amount of residue in the syringe, so tests were unable to determine more than the substance’s non-toxicity. No drugs or toxic substances were found in the bottle either, he said.
An Albertson’s spokesman said the store was reopened at 2 p.m. Tuesday and that, as a precaution, some food was replaced.
