Forward-center Joe Wolf of North Carolina, the 13th player picked in the 1987 National Basketball Assn. draft last June, has reached a verbal agreement on a three-year contract with the Clippers, club officials announced Monday.
“I just want to come in and be consistent and help the team,” Wolf said by phone from his home in Kohler, Wis.
Wolf is expected to sign his contract and report to training camp at Cal Poly Pomona today. He could make his pro debut when the Clippers open their exhibition season Wednesday night against the Utah Jazz in Cedar City, Utah.
Wolf (6-11, 230) averaged 15.2 points last season at North Carolina.
Meanwhile, Arn Tellem, the Clippers general counsel, said he is continuing negotiations with the agents for forward-guard Reggie Williams, the club’s No. 1 draft pick.
