Irish Prime Minister Charles Haughey said that progress in Anglo-Irish affairs has been difficult and disappointingly limited. But he welcomed the end of trials in Northern Ireland based on the testimony of informers and noted that the annual Protestant marching parade season in the north had passed more peacefully this year. Britain and Ireland signed a landmark accord two years ago that gave Dublin a limited say in the running of Northern Ireland, where Irish nationalist guerrillas are fighting to oust the British. Haughey, who had expressed reservations about the agreement while he was a member of the opposition, has pledged to honor it since coming into office six months ago.
