Loved Colorado Ranch

On March 29 your section featured the San Juan Guest Ranch near Ridgway, Colo., in an article by Jerry Hulse. The splendors described impelled me to the phone and a request for reservations for my husband, myself and our 10-year-old grandson. We were fortunate to get one of the last available dates before the start of school. Jerry’s description was not overstated, and it was one of our best vacations ever.
Run by Pat MacTiernan and her two sons, Scott and Bill, this is the perfect place for families with children. In a breathtakingly beautiful valley surrounded by awesome mountains, it has additional fringe benefits of warm hospitality from a friendly, efficient staff, three wonderful meals daily and convivial rapport between guests and staff.
Our grandson shared a wonderful time with 11 other children, learning to ride a horse (his for the week), fishing just steps away from our quarters, hiking, trips in four-wheel-drive vehicles to old mines, waterfalls, Telluride and more, a hot-air balloon ride, swimming in a hot spring pool and a great overnight campout.
We want to go back; it was an unforgettable experience, thanks to Jerry’s article.
